Heaton Park, Manchester

Just outside Manchester lies Heaton Park, a sprawling landscape dotted with impressive architectural features, most notably Heaton Hall itself. Despite its origins going back to the Middle Ages, documented accounts of paranormal activity at the park seem relatively scarce.

However, one recurring apparition is that of Lady Alice, a member of the Egerton family who once owned the hall. Rumour says she met an untimely end, either by foul play or her own hand.

According to the Manchester Evening News, a group of five young ghost hunters spent a night at the grounds in 1968, hoping to encounter the ghost firsthand. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to find a follow up article so I’ve no idea if they were successful or not, however Paul and Wendy’s contributions were particularly elucidating;

Says Paul: “You cannot say you believe in ghosts until you have seen one. I’m slightly sceptical.”
Said Wendy: “I hope it doesn’t rain.”
